Meg

Education: PhD Physics, University of Hawaii and B.S. Physics, University of Minnesota

Area of Expertise: Math & Physics

Meg earned her BS in Astrophysics and a BS in Physics from the University of Minnesota, studying supernova and gamma ray bursts as an undergrad. For two years, she worked on her Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Hawaii before deciding to pursue a Ph.D. in Education in Colorado. Meg discovered and nurtured her passion for sharing her knowledge with students while teaching undergraduate electricity and magnetism labs as a graduate student. Since then, she has been tutoring for two years and finds enjoyment in helping students reach higher levels of understanding.

Meg describes her tutoring style as engaging and inquiry-based. She understands the process of knowledge development and stresses the importance of feedback throughout a student’s learning journey. Her research at the University of Hawaii focused on how preparation and feedback are related to motivation and increased confidence, and she continues to integrate and emphasize these crucial aspects in her tutoring.

Student Testimonials

“Our son finally found a teacher he is very comfortable with. Thank you Meg and Alexa! As parents, we are also very pleased to be working with Stemly. Meg has a true heart of a teacher and is working hard to push our son in the right direction. We absolutely recommend Stemly to anyone who is looking for extra help with Math or Science.”

“My daughter was struggling in AP Physics. After speaking with several companies the choice to go with Stemly was easy and obvious…The interface for tutoring is excellent. Online, scheduling is a breeze and my daughter finds it great to interact, ask questions and review topics…Our tutor (Meg) is outstanding. Knowledgeable in the subject area and displays great intuition of what is hindering the learning…Lesson notes to the parent allows me to have a view of how the tutoring is going- without the inevitable 'good' or 'fine' from my teenager. We are both very pleased with Stemly. And yes, my child's grades are much improved but more important (perhaps) she is less anxious and fearful of the topic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STEMLY.”
